Full-scale Implementation of the Finance Function at Investee Level
In a number of instances we have been engaged by shareholders and the boards of directors of venture startups to establish and execute the finance function for investment holdings and operating entities. This work usually included the implementation and control of the treasury function, managing relationships with corporate administrators and legal counsel, ensuring compliance and corporate governance. As part of our role we coordinated the preparation of business plans and budgets, monitored operating KPIs and financial performance, implemented and enforced financial controls. Our team assisted the portfolio companies with the preparation of the IFRS financial statements and their audit by the Big Four.
Search and Selection of the Finance Staff
We selected and appointed experienced financial officers to CFO/FM positions in all investees where we had a controlling interest with our investment partners. We also selected and controlled relationships with the accounting firms in the event of the outsourcing of the accounting and statutory tax compliance function.
Best Practice Review and Recommendations on Implementation of the Investment Reporting System at Portfolio and GP Level
Based on the review of industry benchmarks, including recommendations and standards developed by EVCA, we developed recommendations on the implementation of a multi-layer reporting system for the largest Russian fund of funds. We proposed the investment KPI parameters and reporting formats at the investee, portfolio and fund levels, and recommended the IRR benchmarking methodology.
